The Power and Potential of One
A little goes a long way...
A pinch of salt. A hint of cologne. A short power nap. A good deep breath.
"A dab will do ya!" - not "daba daba do," as Fred Flintstone would say.
More often than not, a little is enough...
a little encouragement
a little thanks
a little attention
a little intention
a little heart
a little compassion
a little forgiveness
a little love can lead to a hunka hunka burning love 💖
Generally speaking, we don't need much. We don't demand much.
We aspire to know-
We matter.
We're deserving.
We have purpose.
We possess value.
Never under estimate the power and potential of one...
One touch
One hug
One kiss
One smile
One compliment
One "how are you?"
One "I'm glad you're here."
One call. One text. Even better, one letter.
Even just one can make all things transform to become better. The sky looks bluer. The sun shines brighter.
All things become right again in the world when adding just one. The world seems warmer and more friendly when you find that one friend or even "the one." The one life partner or the one treasure you lost and find again.
Doing one kind gesture can take one minute. One push of effort. Big bountiful benefits for us and for them.
This one thing can bring "God moments" into our ordinary days making them become extraordinary. Don't we want that for everyone?
Can my one act of kindness truly make much of a difference? We ask but we already know. It can. It lifts us as we lift others. The smallest of things can bring the biggest of impacts.
Take a mustard seed. It's tiny but mighty. We barely give it one thought, but look at its great power and potential. It measures 1 to 2 millimeters at its start but can grow rapidly into a 30-foot garden shrub allowing birds to perch and shelter in shade on its branches.
Jesus thought enough of this small seed to emphasize its importance in a parable. He shared its profound worthiness as He walked and taught on this earth.
In Mark 4:31-32-
"It is like the grain of a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all seeds upon the earth; Yet after it is sown, it grows up and becomes the greatest of all garden herbs and puts out large branches so that the birds of the air are able to make nests and dwell in its shade."
How cool is that! The smallest of seeds can become the greatest of herbs with large branches providing the best homes for birds. This tiny seed gives a resting place and a canopy of cooling shade. What a grand purpose achieved by what looked like the most unlikely candidate.
And the faith of a mustard seed is enough to move mountains as Jesus explained in Matthew 17:20- "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you."
Our one small beginning step of faith or one walk toward kindness is the mere start of greatness to come. It holds much power and potential. We simply must begin with taking that one first step.
It only takes one!
It's our one step then another and then another that leads us to grow into the greatness our God intends for us.
Grow on mustard seed. You've grown on us!

Is that too much?

Too much to send?
