We Must Launch to Soar
![]() |
Holding onto things in our lives is never healthy. Grabbing tightly only brings on sweaty palms and smooshed dreams. We must fully open our hands to surrender all that has been placed within our grasp. Nothing is ours to keep for very long.
Children are created to create out on their own.
Birds are fashioned to fly.
Kites are designed to soar.
Brand-new shoes can only take you where you want to go if you risk a little dirt on the sole.
A new car stays shiny and new while on the lot but it loses its purpose to stay there.
Adorning jewelry out and about can be risky but why keep our sparkle all locked up?!
It's true birds and babies are safer in their nest but think of all they'll miss if restricted there?!
If words have been laced in my/your heart, they must reach my/your pen or computer to soar into the waiting world. Why would we withhold what we have been given? Some may not like what we have to say but some may be blessed. We must gain the nerve to risk all in order to share. It feels intimidating. We feel exposed. Our opportunity to soar depends on our getting up the nerve to go for it.
We reach a point in life where we do resurrect the nerve to go for it. There comes a time when it's now or never. Now is that time. It's worth the risk. To those who don't like it...so be it!
Let's say nay to the naysayers!
I've mustered up the nerve to launch my first book even when it scares the pee-waddling out of me! Stepping out in pee-waddling fear is the first essential step on the pathway to high-fiving jubilation!
I long to soar. I want jubilation. What about you?!

On Wing and Prayer
A momma bird has tasks to do.
She picks up things to nest her crew.
Some twigs and sticks and straw and such.
You wouldn't think it took that much.
She never stops 'til nesting's done.
She rises early like the sun.
It takes six trips to venture out.
She does so with no fuss or pout.
She goes until she's done her best.
She's proud to see her well-made nest.
It serves her well while there's a need
To let her nurture, train, and feed.
This nest will not be needed long
not past the time chicks grow up strong.
The day will come to say goodbye.
What's left is shooing birds to fly.
They flap their wings and skim the air.
They leave the nest on wing and prayer.
Absolutely! It can be difficult make the decision to put yourself out there on a limb, so to speak. This week I attended a program out here in Dallas about the Texas constitutional amendments that are going to be on our ballot for the November 7th election. It was a very informative session. When it was time for questions from the audience, I was very hesitant, but I had a good question and made myself go to the microphone to ask it. I did it! That's just a small example of putting yourself out there. Doing things like that helps us feel empowered. Feeling empowered gives us the courage to go for it!
