No More Labor this Labor Day!

Labor. Been there. Done that 3x. Don't want to do it again. Don't have to do it again. Yay and a Hallelujah!

Labor is for the young. It is worth every gasping breath and piercing pain but we don't want to do it again. No thank you. Aren't we glad we don't have to?! The build-up was exciting. The anticipation exhilarating. The execution a little too exhilarating. No fun at all.

We women have to go through so much. Why? Because we're the only ones who will. And we'd do it all over again - back then - just not today.

All the messy monthly mayhem. With me - since I was eleven. Trying to plan honeymoon, vacations, get-aways around it to only be surprised when it shows up anyway. No worry no more.

Do we stop to realize there is far less for us to worry about these days in our day-to-day. Or there should be. How about we stop right now. Let's contemplate. Let's celebrate. I'll wait.

Pre-menopause - no fun. Menopause - no fun. Hormone hitting heights. Hormone diving depths. When all this gets behind us, isn't it a relief? Doesn't it bring joy?! It should. Sometimes I forget to appreciate that not-so-small blessing of today!

We women are just plain wow...thank you very much.

Okay...moving on

We not only triumphed through messiness and pain but so much pressure. I'm not just talking about the pushing down the birth canal pressure...the hopes, the dreams, the demands of starting a family are immense. Dads have pressure too, no doubt. We moms often carry the pressure to heart more deeply minute by ever-loving minute.

The pressure on young families today is so much greater than what we carried yesterday. And we carried a lot. Our grown kids need us. We won't fully understand but we can lend a helping hand. Our helping hand reaches out to give not grasping to receive.

I've needed that reminder as one of my sons...his wife...his 3 young kids...his large dog were living with us the past 7 weeks...many God-given opportunities to give with open hands.

And back to the subject of labor...Have you retired from that job, that task, that responsibility? Like maybe cooking a full-spread meal day after day and night after night for a house full?  I've had enough of that after almost 38 years. What about you? Let me know in a comment below.

Hope you had a labor-free Labor Day. You deserved it!

Three cheers for you.

Three cheers for me.

We are the bedrock

of humanity!
